A phone at the door shows a code that changes every few seconds. Employees scan it and confirm with a passkey. Each check-in is a co-signature that Vestige verifies and records on-chain: this person's key and this kiosk's key both signed, after one block and before another.
2 · Kiosk
Any phone or tablet
Open the pairing link on the device by the door. It creates a key that never leaves it and signs a fresh code every few seconds. Install it to the home screen for full screen.
3 · Employee app
Scan, then passkey
The phone's camera opens the code. One passkey prompt co-signs it; the service pays the gas and submits it. No wallet, no app store.
What a check-in proves, and what it doesn't
- Proves: the employee's passkey (unlocked with their biometric or PIN) and the kiosk's device key both signed the same statement, after the block whose hash it carries and before the block that recorded it.
- Proves: the record can't be edited or back-dated by anyone, this service included. Each row exports as evidence anyone can re-check from a public node.
- Doesn't prove the person stood at the door: someone could photograph the code and send it to a colleague. The kiosk's window (60 s by default) limits how far that can go; a deployment that needs more pairs the kiosk with NFC or Bluetooth.
- Maps keys to people off-chain. The chain sees two public keys; who they belong to lives in this service's directory, behind the company's identity provider.
This demo uses a stand-in identity provider with no passwords, and Base Sepolia, a test network. Contract 0xc5b8…4b6f, the same address on every chain.
